Formula Ford BRSCC national 5th round at Brands Hatch was a challenging weekend, we learnt a lot about the car and set up at Brands Hatch, which we can use for Knockhill and further Brands Hatch races.

After qualifying 2nd, I was feeling confident that the set up was good and we were ready to race.
I had a good start in race 1, and took the lead early on, but very quickly it became apparent that we did not have the pace. After struggling to gain as much time as possible and defend my position, I finished 4th.
We made some changes to the set up for race 2, which did improve the times a little, finishing in 4th again, we knew there were further improvements we needed to do.
After analysis and discussion, further changes were made.

Race 3, starting in 5th position, I knew it would be difficult and we still didn't know if the improvements would make a difference. Very quickly it was clear the new changes had made a difference, and my times were much more where I had expected them to be in race 1. Battling my way through traffic, when I was able to establish my position in 3rd, the 2 cars ahead had already pulled a gap. I continued to push on, gaining time as each lap ticked down. Finally finishing in 2nd.
We move onto the next race at Castle Combe on 28th August and then Knockhill for round 6 of the National.
